Why We Love This Craft:

  • Visual Storytelling: The sliding strip helps children sequence the events of the Resurrection.

  • Interactive Learning: Moving the stone and sliding the strip keeps little hands engaged and minds curious.

  • Heart-Centered Message: Reinforces the hope and promise of the holiday: “I can live forever with the help of Jesus”.

What You’ll Need:

  • The Easter Tomb Template.

  • Crayons or markers (to color the tomb and story scenes).

  • Scissors (to cut out the tomb, stone, and story strip).

  • A brad (paper fastener) to make the stone roll.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Color and Cut

  • Start by coloring the tomb, the stone, and the four story strip boxes.

  • Carefully cut out each piece.

  • Adult Step: Use your scissors to cut the small “window” inside the tomb where the story scenes will appear.

2. Thread the Story Strip

  • Insert your story strip behind the tomb so the pictures show through the window.

  • Test it out! Your learner can now slide the strip from left to right to “watch” the story happen.

3. Attach the Rolling Stone

  • Place the circular stone over the small hole on the tomb.

  • Push a brad through the stone and the tomb to secure it.

  • Now your child can roll the stone away to reveal the empty tomb!.

🌱 Learning Connections

  • Sequencing: Ask your child, “What happened first?” and “What happened when they rolled the stone away?”

  • Fine Motor Skills: Moving the brad and sliding the paper strip provides excellent “finger exercise” for preschoolers.

  • Faith Connection: Discuss the meaning of the empty tomb and the joy of “He is risen!”.
