Easy Ghost Craft- Free Printables!

Need a quick, fun craft to celebrate the spooky season? This Easy Ghost Craft is perfect for preschool, kindergarten, and early elementary students!

It’s simple, requires minimal supplies, and the concept of a free printable template means you’ll be ready to start in minutes. Hang these friendly, floating ghosts around your classroom or home for instant Halloween décor!

This project is great for a Halloween party activity, a fine motor skills lesson, or just a fun way to decorate for October.

🧰 Materials Needed

  • Black construction paper or a black marker (for the face)

  • Scissors

  • Glue stick

  • Hole punch

  • Yarn or string (for hanging)

 📸 Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Print the Free Template

Download and print the Free Printable Ghost Template onto white paper or cardstock. (Cardstock works best for a sturdier ghost!)

Step 2: Cut Out the Ghost

Carefully cut out the ghost shape along the outline. This is excellent cutting practice for little hands! You can have older children cut their own, or have the shapes pre-cut for younger toddlers and those just starting kindergarten.

Step 3: Add the Wispy Tails (Optional)

If you want your ghost to look like it’s floating, cut a few thin strips of white or gray tissue paper and glue them to the bottom/tail of the ghost to create wispy trails.

Step 4: Punch and Hang

Punch a single hole near the top center of the ghost’s head. Thread a piece of yarn or string through the hole and tie a loop. Now your friendly ghost is ready to hang in a doorway or window!

 🌱 Learning Connections

Fine Motor Skills: Using scissors to cut out the curved ghost shape is excellent for strengthening hand muscles and developing dexterity and control, making it a perfect activity for kindergarten prep and skill reinforcement.

Art: Discuss shapes, positive and negative space, and how to create different expressions and feelings by changing the size or shape of the eyes and mouth.

Literacy/Thematic: Read a fun, non-scary book about ghosts, bats, or other Halloween characters to tie the craft into your seasonal lessons.
